Cloud Security & Compliance On Tap at Cloud Expo

Layered Technology's President Brad Hokamp Outlining the Challenges

Ask an IT manager to name five or six major issues with Cloud Computing, and security will probably come up as three of them. As much as I enjoy writing about the high-level inevitability of the Cloud, I realize that security risk mitigation will be a major issue as long as IT's butt is hanging out there when something goes wrong.

So it would follow that there will be a high level of interest in Layered Technology's President Brad Hokamp's session at Cloud Expo in New York. Entitled "Business-Critical Security & Compliance in the Cloud," Brad says his session will cover "potential security risks of data within the cloud and ways to mitigate these risks. It will identify emerging compliance policies, the growing requirements faced by adopters of the cloud, how to ensure greater availability and security, and ways to leverage more support services for cloud offerings."

"Clouds are no longer just for Web applications," he's noted. "Today they are used for transaction processing, data storage and line-of-business applications, both in the enterprise and by SaaS vendors.'

Brad says his presentation will address "some of the key common security controls that should be in place to ensure security and compliance when deploying virtualized server clouds." The session will be held on Monday, June 6 at 4:05pm.
